Portraiture: Nick Williamson

Here is a portrait piece I just finished working on.
My subject for this piece is my best friend Nick Williamson. I couldn't decide between these two photos as I liked both so much for different reasons. One he is posed looking at the camera, no major facial expression, the eyes tell the story & the lighting is real bright. The other is slightly darker, but caught him as I made him laugh about something, this is Nick fully in his element, the happy, scrunched up face, big smile that is so infectious. So decided it might be cool to make one piece with both photographs.
Nick has been a huge part of my life for years now, even being on the opposite sides of the world for a year, still remained my rock and a big source of guiding words, cheers Nick.

Thankyou so much to everybody who has appeared on & stopped by my blog over this past year, it has been nothing short of an amazing & inspiring year.
Hope you have all had a fantastic time over these holidays, wishing you all the very best for 2011. Here we go...

Warming Up Wolsey With Ben Raemers

Ben arrived back here in Ipswich, England, only a couple of weeks behind myself, after spending a long while over in the states doing his usual thing of being a skateboarder and killing it with a grin on his face.
I haven't seen Ben for a year, all that has changed is he has grown a little taller, his hair is out of control, he has got even better on his board & to boot he's still the nicest guy, it's a quality that will never let him down, don't ever change Ben.

We met up on yesterdays freezing 1'C, Tuesday morning, had a coffee/beer and made our way into town for a skate, the first skate since before the snow hit! Just so happened to cruise by the Wolsey eleven and Ben decides it would be a fun thing to jump down them to warm up... right you are Ben... a couple of tries and that's done. A trick was tried but that's gonna be saved for another sesh... watch this space. We cruised to one or two other spots but the poor lad had a heel bruise aggravating him so we settled for a park roll and some games of skate with the boys.
Always a fun day with Raemers. Here's a photo of his warm up and his smelly foot.

Winter Wonder Land [part 2]

Some photographs I took of my wonderful dog, Peggy. I missed her while I was away & judging by her reaction to my home coming she had missed me to. It's great to get out around the fields with her again, especially in the snow. I'd forgotten how much of a poser she can be.

Winter Wonder Land [part 1]

Sorry for not posting anything in a minute, it's been a manic few weeks.
I am now back in the UK, coming home to such cold weather after seeing the beginnings of summer time in Sydney has been a shock to the system to say the least. Last week during some early snow fall I went out with my camera for a walk. Here you go... more coming up soon.

Nothing is permanent...

I took this photo over in WA at a beach. Markings in the sand and a sun faded news paper reminding me of my favorite quote which has leveled me out during tough times...

"Nothing is permanent in this wicked world of ours, not even our troubles"

RattleCat

The first & possibly only Rattle Cat show on Sunday night at the Manly Boatshed, it was a killer night, Josh Fergus & his ensemble of musicians threw this show together very quickly, put in 110% and it was a huge success. The vibe of the packed out Boatshed was incredible, Josh's new music got to everyone's dancing shoes for sure. Stand out songs for me were "Hail Mary", "Song For The Weekend", "Rattle Cat" & a very unique cover of The White Stripes "Seven Nation Army". Fantastic night, I sincerely hope this isn't the only gig we'll have from these guys.
Go to http://www.myspace.com/joshuafergus to hear some of Josh's new songs. Thanks

Osborne Rd

Osborne Rd, you were so very good to me. As much as I hated walking up your steepest point after the longest days and the drunkest nights, you had some kind of magic that made my time living there so very special & unforgettable. But most of all you brought me together with some people who I now consider some of my best friends. I thank you.

Rock & rolls will never die

Some photos of me by my friend Steph Larkin from last week during my trip over to Western Australia. Skated this spot outside the library in Perth, the most fun place I've skated of late. Stoked on the shots Steph got of me, not often I get this side of the camera. On this 29'C day for the love of a new spot & some fun, pulled out a fs rock & roll, and a bs rock & roll sequence and still. It's only rock & rolls, but I like it.
